Marina Park Dock Construction Begins

March 16, 2021 -- Tuscarora Township has started dock docks at Marina Park. Land clearing and preparations began this week. The township was awarded a matching grant for the project from the Michigan Department of Agriculture Rural Development.

The dockage will include space for up to 15 boats and signage inviting tourists to dock and visit downtown Indian River. There will be no charge to the public for tourism and recreational use of the docks. No overnight docking will be permitted.  Marina Park is one-block walk to downtown Indian River.

This was a community effort by the Parks Commission, the Board of Trustees, community members and local businesses.

Bridgewater Excavating and Fay Martin Resort will donate thousands of dollars in labor to build the project.  The Kramer family donated funds for the research and design of the Native American Monument. Sallie Snyder, former Chairperson of the Marina Park Commission and Mary Roberts of Indian River, enrolled citizen of Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, acted as advisors on the project.
